At the turn of the year we took part in a number of debates surrounding the best albums, mixtapes and singles of 2012 which resulted in us having to basically agree to disagree, but one thing we were all sure of was Miguel Pimento’s ‘Kaleidoscope Dream’ can assuredly take its place in the R&B hall of fame for one of the best albums in quite some time.
Fresh off the much acclaimed International K.D tour we thought that might be the last we hear from the L.A based singer for a while, but the relatively unknown DJ S.K.T. has just released his Deep House Refix of ‘Adorn’, and much to our delight it must be said.
With so many producers intent on merging elements of R&B alongside trap, funky and garage right about now, its always refreshing to hear a simplified yet classic take on what was one of last year’s biggest hits in ‘Adorn’. Opting to preserve those familiar yet tastefully soulful vocals the Londoner has given this one a traditional House reworking, giving off a laid back ambient vibe that will equally please the newer House fans as much as the older heads who have been following the scene since the early 90’s.
